The City has installed shimmering lights on the safety barrier of the Bloor Viaduct and inaugurated the display as part of the forthcoming PanAm Games celebrations. It is known as the “Luminous Veil” and it attracted spectators to both the bridge and to  Bayview Avenue below. The project designer Dereck Revington said in a release from the City: “There’s nothing like it in the world.” The veil will be illuminated 365 days a year and will change with the seasons. Speaking at the inauguration, Mayor John Tory said the project will be part of the Pan Am Games’ lasting legacy for the city.
