12 seniors killed as pickup hits church van head-on in Texas

A small shuttle bus carrying Texas church members home from a retreat near San Antonio collided head-on with a pickup truck, killing 12 elderly people and injuring three others Wednesday. The victims who died were senior adults from First Baptist Church of New Braunfels, Texas. It was not immediately clear what caused the collision about 120 miles (193.1 km) from the church, where the members were headed.


The nearly 130-year-old Westinghouse firm, now a nuclear subsidiary of Toshiba, has sought bankruptcy protection in the US.  Toshiba had hoped to see a resurgence of nuclear energy but cheap natural gas seems to have closed that door for a while.
