Dead of “broken heart” after dog chokes on rubber ball

A Leslieville woman, Julie Ford, has died following a heart attack that occurred moments after her beloved black Labrador Buddy choked on a ball and died in her presence at the Greenwood Dog Park. One of her friends, Yves Precourt, is quoted by Joanna Lavoie of the Beach Mirror as saying: “Her broken heart killed her. The emotion was too strong.”  Ms  Ford survived for a week following her heart attack, according to reports, but then suffered a fatal asthma attack on January 17.  A vigil  was held at the park on Alton Ave. south of Gerrard St. East. in recent days to honour the devoted pet owner.
