Etobicoke murder victim was known for small-time crime

According to Toronto police the man shot dead in his own driveway in Etobicoke early Friday was a small-time criminal known as Tony Large. His real name was Antonio Sergi, 53, a dealer in cigarette smuggling and cargo theft. His nickname came not because Sergi bulked large as a Mr. Big of crime but because his weight fluctuated. He was found about 2:30 a.m. outside his bungalow on La Rush Dr., near Scarlett Rd., between Lawrence Ave. W. and Eglinton Ave. W. He had been shot at least once in the head and was pronounced dead on the scene. Someone was seen fleeing in the dark but the description is sketchy.
