Sam’s sign, the house-price map and the monster doomed

Ryerson University says that Sam Sniderman’s 1960s neon marvel is being worked on and a debut of the sign in its new home high above Dundas Square may be expected sometime in the Fall. Ryerson says it is planning a ceremony marking the lighting. Upper right, the Globe and Mail has published this map which charts how resale home prices have responded to the new housing tax in recent weeks. Remarkably, some areas continue to creep up. Here in South Bayview, there has been a slight decline. And in Mississauga, Ontario Superior Court has ordered the owner of an unfinished 6,600 square-foot monster home in Brampton to destroy it within 120 days after a legal battle that stretches back almost five years. It was thrown up when the City mistakenly issued a building permit.
