Senate should expel Don Meredith at earliest opportunity

Senator Don Meredith has been found to have behaved in a way that can only be called unfitting for a member of the Canadian government. The Senate’s ethics watchdog has found that Meredith  — a pentecostal minister — breached the Red Chamber’s ethics code by engaging in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a young woman that started when she was 16 years old. He concedes he had sexual intercourse with her on at least one occasion. The investigation found reason to believe he and the girl had intercourse three times, including once when she was 17. The most extreme measure open to fellow Senators is to expel Meredith. That’s what they should do as soon as they can.
