Driver killed as truck dumps irrititant chemical on 401

A truck driver was killed on Highway 401 near Mallorytown west of Brockville following a pileup of more than 30 vehicles. The truck contained fluorosilicic acid, an irritant chemical that impacts the nose, eyes, throat and respiratory system. As many as 28 others were taken to hospital for the possible effects of the chemical. It occurred about 2 p.m. near Exit 137 between Brockville and Gananoque. Between 7,000 and 10,000 litres of the hazardous chemical spilled in the crash according to Leeds Township Spokesperson Elaine Mallory. Kingston General Hospital to called a “Code Orange” protocol to deal with those affected. Video by Dave Somerville.

    Gotta love how this truck driver is recording a massive pileup of trucks with one hand and driving his truck with the other hand. SMH
