Honorary citizenship conferred on courageous Malala

Canadian honorary citizenship has been officially conferred on Malala Yousafzai. The young Pakistani woman has been celebrated for her courage and strength since she was targeted in 2012 by a terrorist gunman because of her open determination to see girls educated in her native land. On Wednesday she asked Parliament to promote education for girls and refugees around the world. The Nobel Peace Prize recipient heaped praise on Canada for its commitment to helping refugees, advancing women’s rights and working for world peace.
