BA is very sorry for IT collapse but the fix seems elusive

British Airways cancelled all flights Saturday, sent home passengers without their luggage and said it was working very hard to fix the failure. The computer crash affected BA’s booking system, baggage handling, mobile phone apps and check-in desks, leaving passengers facing long queues and confusion in airports or delays while planes were held on runways. There was also a domino impact on aircraft already abroad which could not return. As thousands of people piled up at British airports the airline said it had no indication that the collapse of service was related to terrorism. It said that maybe there had been a massive power failure. But so far there is no predicted end to the airport horror story that saw every single BA flight out of Heathrow and Gatwick cancelled. Who knows what Sunday will bring?
