Canadian held in Belize murder of Francesca and friend

Police in Belize are said to be questioning a Canadian citizen in connection with the strangulation death of Toronto-area woman Francesca Matus and her boyfriend Drew DeVoursney. The suspect is already charged with an “unrelated burglary” and is on the radar of local cops because they believe Matus and DeVoursney were targeted by “persons familiar to them.” The pair had been dating for several months and were living at Francesca’s vacation home in Belize. They disappeared on the drive home from a bar after a farewell drink with friends. Matus was to fly back to Toronto the following morning. They were found strangled, with their hands duct-taped, in a sugarcane field. Previous here and here
