One dead as man drives car into crowd on Times Square

A young driver with a record of drinking at the wheel has crashed into pedestrians on a sidewalk on Time Square in New York killing an 18-year-old visitor to New York and injuring 23 others. She is Alyssa Elsman of Portage, Michigan. Police identified the suspect as Richard Rojas, 26, who has previously been arrested twice for driving while intoxicated. An 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Four others were taken to hospital in serious condtion. There is said to be no terrorist indication.
