Government to make wearing heels at work personal choice

A private member’s bill which seems likely to become law at Queen’s Park will make it a matter of personal choice among employees as to whether they wear heels at work. It is the pet project of Davenport MPP Christina Martins. The victory here is trumpeted by the media that women will no longer be forced to endure such shoes if they don’t want to. It is not clear if employers will be allowed to direct women not to wear heels to ensure stable and agile staff. The chart at upper left tells its own story about the stress that shoes can create for some women (and men too if they are so persuaded). Upper right, Alan Somerset of Scarborough insists the raccoons have won and that the new green bins need to be re-designed. He is writing to Mayor Tory about it. But the City says it has received only 15 complaints about the bins out of the 400,000 in service. Of course, just because the raccoons haven’t yet figured out how to open these bins doesn’t mean that they won’t. Nature is funny that way. Below that, police are seeking Stephane Voukirakis, 48, for breach of parole after a five-year sentence for child sex offenses. He is described as 5’6″, 154 lbs., and is known to wear glasses.
