Leaside’s Lucca Agate, 15, burns up track at OFSSA event

A Leaside girl, 15-year-old Lucca Agate, has just burned up the track at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) track and field event in Toronto. Lucca, who has been running for less than 18 months, took the 100m, 200m, 400m and the 4×100 junior girls relay. She is clearly a competitor to be watched with dreams of Canadian Olympic glory in mind. Her mom is Peggy Tilbenny.

Chris Luka snapped the shot at left of the 88-year-old sidewalk on Parkhurst Ave. as the City prepares to replace pavement on the street. It is among the oldest stamps he has seen (us too) and says “Huckle Bros. 1930.” Many are commenting Sunday on this interesting bit of local lore. At the right is a just-received poster from the South Leaside Monday Group advertising its event this coming Wednesday. Please check the South Bayview Bulldog Bulletin Board for coming local events

Finally, the 12th annual Bayview Cup Golf Tourney has been won (again) by Leaside in a low-key battle last Friday against players from Davisville Village. As best we can tell from the website, the laurels for this tepidly contested event count up to Leaside eight and Davisville four. You can catch the true flavour of the Bayview Cup by knowing that it adjourns to the Leaside Pub. Good work all.
