Watermain break floods Millwood Rd. at railway underpass

The main access to Thorncliffe Park, East York and businesses such as the Esso car wash and Loblaws on Redway Rd. is closed Monday because of a morning watermain break on Millwood Rd. at the railway underpass. Millwood into Leaside remains open. City water officials say the main may be repaired by the end of the day but they cannot be sure.  A 12-inch main, one of two under Millwood at the railway, burst overnight. The heavy traffic normally seen on Millwood southbound must now take one of three  routes into Thorncliffe or East  York. There is access by way of Wicksteed Rd. and Beth Nealson Drive into Thorncliffe. Drivers headed to East York may wish to take Pottery  Rd. across the Don Valley. The longest and most congested route will be along Eglinton and south on Don Mills. Traffic on Wicksteed and Beth Nealson was heavy at midday. Bayview Avenue to Pottery Road is a nice route into East York. Watch the Bulldog for notice as to when the road is re-opened.
