Frank Eckert has a quick shy smile as he points out there really is a reason for the name of his neighbourhood masonry business — Frank and Sons Masonry Limited They are ages ten, four and one. “I feel like I’m building for the future,” says Eckert as he talks of his young family. He spoke at a Queen St E. coffee shop in the Beach near one of his job sites. It is a neighbourhood he knows well having grown up at “Woodbine and Kingston” This day his work was finishing up a poolside patio. It’s a job that is a mainstay of his mason’s trade. Masonry isn’t bricklaying, although Eckert is well skilled at such work. If you need a garden fence of warm-coloured brick, he is your man. But it is in the building of patios, fireplaces, porches and steps, natural stone and specialized walkways that Frank finds much of his job satisfaction.

He is fully licensed and insured. Frank and Sons Masonry works in the areas that Frank knows best. That’s the residential neighbourhoods of mid-town Toronto (including South Bayview) east of Yonge Street.
