Cadillac, Toyota RAV to be built in Ontario

Both General Motors and Toyota have announced plans to assemble new vehicles in Ontario. GM will assign the Oshawa plant to make the anticipated new Caddy intended to compete with the largest models produced by BMW and Mercedes. Production will begin next year. Toyota said it will assemble its RAV4 crossover utility vehicle at its plant in Woodstock. The RAv4 has an electric car component. Toyota has obtained a $71 loan (repayable) from the federal government and grant of the same amount from Ontario. Together they cover about 25 percent of the cost of tooling up the Woodstock plant to assemble the RAV4.
