Mark Carney to head the Bank of England

Mark Carney, the internationally respected Governor of the Bank of Canada has quit to become the Governor of the  Bank of England. His term begins next summer. The move was announced this morning by  Finance Minister Jim Flaherty who called it a bittersweet moment.  The Minister said he’s pleased to see Carney take on new responsibilities, but the governor will be missed at home. The two men worked closely to deal with the recent recession and turmoil in financial markets.
