It seems good news that the store at 1538 Bayview Avenue has been sold and will soon be put up for lease. In recent times this storefront was the location of the Leaside Express variety store (right) and then, in 2010, was completely renovated to house the NIMA money exchange. Sadly, fire at Leaside Cleaners right next door late the following year drove out the NIMA tenant. It has been vacant since. Perhaps now, with a new landlord, we will see a dynamic business at this address. There remains work to be done because smoke damage from the 2011 fire exists both downstairs and in the upstairs apartment.
