Cop truck in teen’s death shows heavy damage

A good many questions remain to be answered following the traffic death of an 18-year-old woman last night. She was struck by a pickup truck owned by the York Regional Police. They say the driver was on duty even though he was in the City of Toronto. The damage done to the front of the vehicle is extraordinary considering what might be expected when a vehicle hits a pedestrian. The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in to investigate the accident. The SIU tweeted it was probing the actions of York Regional Police. Emergency crews were called to the scene in Scarborough near St. Clair and Warden avenues around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.  Paramedics said they tried to resuscitate the woman but she was pronounced dead at the scene. It appears she was crossing mid-block on St. Clair, near Warden, when she was hit by the truck.
