Parker meeting on Eg LRT this Tuesday, March 18

Road narrowing and diversions are underway on Eglinton Ave. E. on either side of Brentcliffe Rd. as the multi-year job of building the Crosstown LRT begins in Leaside and beyond. As reported, boring machines will shortly begin working their way westward from Brentcliffe on the two tunnels of the underground transit line. Work is expected to take until at least 2020 although it isn’t clear just how long this intersection will be effected. The LRT stations to be built at Bayview Ave. and  at Laird Drive will be built by so-called cut and cover. What that means is that both intersections will look a lot like big ditches for as much as two years. It’s going to be fun.  John Parker (Ward 26) has scheduled an information meeting for the evening of next Tuesday, March 18, 2014. It will be held in the William Lea Room in Leaside Gardens beginning at 7 p.m. Mr. Parker asks that residents bring their questions and concerns.
