New mum thanks teens, police on Facebook

Parents Melissa and Simon
Melissa McMahon and Simon Boisclair feel like the luckiest parents in the world. A few days ago their baby was abducted from out of her mother’s arms and was only found through the good work of four Trois Rivieres teenagers. Now Ms. McMahon has used Facebook to thank everyone who helped bring home baby Victoria. A 21-year-old woman accused of the baby-snatching will undergo a psychiatric evaluation to determine whether the  case against her can proceed. Her name is Valerie Poulin Collins. The wan-looking woman appeared in court after she was identified by the four teens who saw the Amber Alert on FaceBook. Karine Bussieres, Poulin Collins counsel, told the judge her client is incapable of helping her prepare a defence and asked for the psychiatric evaluation. “For the moment, I’m unable to communicate or have a rational discussion with her,” Bussieres told reporters after the hearing. Jean Pascal Boucher, a spokesman for the Crown, said Poulin Collins will remain in custody until she returns to court next Thursday. How Victoria was rescued
