Toronto’s Royal York & Hotel Vancouver have been put up for sale by Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. The Royal York will continue to be managed by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts as their contract still has decades remaining. In 1929, the year it opened, the Royal York was the tallest building in Toronto. Queen Elizabeth II and other members of the Royal Family have graced its rooms. If you’d prefer an investment with a more light-hearted history, you’re too late — the glass house featured in “Ferris Bueller” has been sold for $1.06M.
