Chocolate sculptor makes truffle in Leaside

Leaside chocolate sculptor Laura Slack has been profiled in the Toronto Star on a day when her delicious inventions are popular for Halloween. Her factory is in the low-rise building at 206 Parkhurst Blvd where the street become a cul de sac east of Laird Drive. Laura told Michelle Henry that she has been on a production campaign to stock up for this busy time. Laura’s goods are sold at her own Distillery District storefront, Maisonette, and at Holt Renfrew and McEwan Grocery in the Shops at Don Mills,. Laura’s website tells us that the 31-year-old is a graduate of the University of Toronto in Science and of the George Brown College Baking and Pastry Arts Program. Her Lion’s Paw Liquid Salted Caramel Truffle is also featured on the dessert menu at Note Bene restaurant.
