Tickets are now sold out for coolest food and music event takes place in Leaside. It is the Leaside Smokedown gathering at Amsterdam Brewers on Esandar Drive and its only two days away. Amsterdam is just beyond Leaside Village off Laird Drive. Most importantly, ticket and auction proceeds will go to Lake Scugog Camps, the well-known character-building experience for boys and girls. Items to be sold to bidders have the potential to really make your summer. Duncan Coutts of Our Lady Peace (who will be playing) has donated a signed guitar and VIP backstage concert experience. Outstanding.  Andy Elder, congenial owner at Grilltime, is donating a backyard BBQ for twenty people. Andy and his friends will be at the controls of the huge smoker barbecue owned by Jon Burnside producing much of the evening’s food. Amsterdam Brewers will treat an auction winner to an outstanding adventure and windfall: Brewmaster for a Day, Beer for a Year.  Many people are donating and working to make the Smokedown the most fun. Among them are Cathy Hawkins of Amsterdam, Tim Magwood, Bennington Heights businessman and musician. He is a director of Lake Scugog Camps and Duncan Coutts of Our Lady Peace, Elise LeGrow and Kevin McGroarty. The lead sponsor is Patrick Rocca with contributing sponsors COBs, Lexus on the Park, Interior Care, Ivy Glen Homes and Leishman Landscaping. A groundswell of sales in recent hours has sold every place available for the event, which will be held Thursday, May 28, 2015.
