Toronto Police Service (TPS) is asking anyone who has interacted with an officer wearing a body-worn camera to get in touch with them. A year-long pilot project is underway to evaluate the use of these cameras. About 100 frontline police officers are currently wearing the cameras while performing their regular duties. The pilot project is scheduled to conclude in March 2016. In a release today (Monday, December 14, 2015) TPS is asking for “feedback from community members who have interacted with officers wearing body-worn cameras. Having experienced the use of body-worn cameras, firsthand, this input will provide a valuable perspective.” It also says that until the end of the survey, packages will be mailed to randomly selected community members who have had contact with an officer wearing a body-worn camera. The survey package will include a one-page survey and a business reply envelope.
