Eat with your fingers (really) at Captain’s Boil on Bayview

The cuisine at the Captain’s Boil is said to be rooted in the style of Asian Fishermen who migrated to the US Gulf Coast and adopted the local Creole recipes for crawfish boil but with an additional kick. They added Asian aromatics to the boil — lemon grass, ginger — serving it with garlic butter and a blend of Asian spices. Captain’s Boil says it is unique and diners on Bayview will have the chance to test the Captain’s Boil soon. The website says much of the food comes in plastic bags, presumably to control waste and keep things tasty. Warning: There are no forks or chops sticks — just fingers. Oh yeah, rubber gloves too. Maybe if you ask for a fork they take pity. Maybe not. Anyway, the sign is up on the premises at 1620 and we expect to see the door open soon. Their boast is that they “serve it messy to let you enjoy it in a fun and unique way.” Okay.
