Entente Cordiale blossoms between Montreal and Toronto

It was if Montreal and Toronto had not fought a friece hockey rivalry for more than a century. Forgotten also was the flight of every single bank head office from Montreal to Toronto in the 70s. Instead Mayor Tory and Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre signed a “historic cooperation agreement” Saturday before the two men went off to a Blue Jays Game at Olympic Stadium. Tory promised to do his best to promote a major league baseball franchise for Montreal. The days of Montreal Expos lost glory must hang heavy over the St. Lawrence. What this Entente Cordiale may truly accomplish is unknown but it couldn’t hurt.  The words of officialdom say it “paves the way” for Montreal and Toronto to share information and best practices in five specific areas: governance, economic vitality, the environment, social development and living together.
