Brian King, one of the founders of the Leaside-area catering firm a la Carte Kitchen Inc., has died in Toronto at the age of 67. The prominent catering business which Mr. King started with his partner Simon Kattar has a long list of well-known clients including the National Ballet School, the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts and Roy Thomson Hall. His obituary, published by Humphrey Funeral Home, recalls that Mr. King was known for his “generosity, quirky and quick wit as well as his gentle spirit and patience”. He arrived in Toronto in 1972 from Suffolk and London and immediately his entrepreneurship shone. He loved art and beauty and was renowned for his taste. A funeral service will be held in the Church of the Redeemer, 162 Bloor Street West, on Thursday, May 19th at 11:00 a.m.  A reception will follow immediately at A La Carte at The Gardiner Bistro, The Gardiner Museum 111 Queen’s Park.
