Debbie Wasserman Schultz is renowned in U.S politics as a fierce Democratic attack dog, a no-holds-barred partisan who might to anything to win. But it appears her combative style has led to her resignation as chairperson of the party. The Florida congresswoman quit after the publication of internal emails by Wikileaks making it clear the she had tilted the party’s supposedly even-handed approach towards Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders. Now it is revealed she will not speak at the convention because of the embarrassment of the revelations. In a statement, Wasserman Schultz says she still plans to fulfil her duties formally opening and closing the convention in Philadelphia. Hillary Clinton thanked Wasserman Schultz, saying she would serve as a surrogate for the Clinton campaign and as honorary chairwoman of a 50-state program to build the party in every part of the country.
