Wildcats split Thanksgiving weekend with a win, loss

The Leaside Wildcats split their Thanksgiving weekend games with a loss Sunday at York University to the Toronto Aeros and a win Saturday at Hespeler Arena against the Cambridge Rivulettes. The score Sunday at CanLan Ice Sports Complex was 4-0 for the Aeros, a team that until Sunday had won only two games and had lost one. The Cats will no doubt wish to ponder that they were scored on three times while at full strength by the Aeros. The fourth marker occurred on an empty net-effort as Leaside tried to pull the game out of the fire. Leaside’s lone goal was scored at Megan Pardy with the help of Myah Bowal and Emma Pye while Claire Dalton was off for hooking. In total, Leaside took five penalties and the Aeros four.

SHOTS ON GOAL

Shanna Dolighan faced a staggering 44 shots in the Leaside net while Madeline Albert had to stop a mere 17, one of which got in. It says a lot. On Saturday, Leaside defeated Cambridge 1-0 for their third straight win in four games Saturday as Olivia Reid scored at 2.00 of the third period assisted by Payton Bray and Marlo Campbell. Rivulette goalie Kaitlin Kroetsch faced 22 shots and Katie Mowbray in the Leaside net stopped 18.
