Thin ice on West Don a hazard to dogs and their owners

The death of a dog in the Don West River Monday morning has brought warnings for pet owners about the dangers of playing on ice. The animal died when it fell through ice and was swept underneath thicker ice and drowned.  Toronto Fire was called to the area behind Sunnybrook Hospital about 8.15 a.m. on reports of a large dog that had fallen into the River. The area is a popular off leash location for owners.
