Man, 68, falls through ice while fishing in Norfolk County

Rescuers have recovered the body of a Hamilton man, 68, who fell through ice while fishing at the Waterford Conservation Area between Brantford and Port Dover west of Hamilton.

Wildcats defeat Sharks 2-1 as they celebrate “Seniors Night”

The Leaside Junior Wildcats defeated the Barrie Sharks 2-1 at Leaside Arena Saturday night. Sunday, the Wildcats meet the Toronto Aeros at the Millwood Rd rink. The games bring to a close the regular season of the Provincial Women’s Hockey League. The Wildcats are 10th ranked in the 20-team conference. Genie’s “PG-13” plunge into topless SI shoot in Turks


Genie Bouchard is Canada’s tennis sweetheart but she has also embraced the topless photo shoot as she proceeds to diversify her career. Here we see her in the Turks and Caicos and (right) being interviewed  about “staying in your lane” as a tennis player.

Boozy Councillor twice called constituent “sexy gramma”

A Cambridge City Councillor, Mike Devine, is to be reprimanded after he was found to have violated the municipal code of conduct for calling a woman constituent a “sexy gramma”. He did so twice on separate occasions. Devine apparently had no association with the woman when he offered this remark. On the second occasion he also said the woman  was “F—— Hot.”  As well, the woman complained that Devine smelled of alcohol on both occasions. Waterloo Record

A sinkhole outside Studio City in Hollywood has swallowed two cars. The video is quite educational. This as Los Angeles gets a drenching unseen in as much as ten years.

Special Saturday kicks off promising Family Day weekend

It was a stunning Saturday in February to kick off the Family Day weekend in South Bayview. Shoppers strolled the street and old friends embraced in — yes — 12 degree weather. The rest of the weekend also looks good as does the week ahead. Saturday’s sun and record-breaking mild temperatures had people — a few — wearing shorts. The high reached 12 C in Toronto, surpassing the old record of 10.8 in 2011. A high of 10 C is forecast for Sunday, a couple of degrees below the record of 12.5 C set in 1994. Check the full weather forecast here.

 

Selfie stick, sneaky interactive doll find digital downside


A Toronto man, Wayne Fromm, invented the Selfie Stick but he’s having a hard time policing the patent. And then, in Europe the Internet of Things comes in the form of a sweet doll who can be hacked to get into your child’s head, reporting back heaven knows what to whomever wants it. It’s 2017, didn’t you know?

2 hurt, 1 critical when pickup ploughs into bridge abutment

Two men were taken to hospital following a pickup truck crash in south Etobicoke after the vehicle ploughed into the abutment of an overpass.  Paramedics say a man in his 30s suffered critical injuries after a pickup crashed into a bridge underpass on Kipling Avenue near New Toronto Street around midnight. The second occupant of the vehicle suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Tour of stained glass windows at Leaside United Church

Leaside United Church was inviting any who may care to attend to a meeting of the group known as Spirit Alive today (Saturday, February 18) at the church at 10:30 a.m. (until 12:30). David Phillips “will lead a mindful tour of the magnificent stained glass windows situated in the chancel” of the church at McRae Dr. and Millwood Rd. All are welcome.
