Mulroney employs “Irish Eyes are Smiling” diplomacy (II)

Former prime minister Brian Mulroney has sung When Irish Eyes are Smiling at a cancer charity event at Mar-a-Lago, the private club owned by Donald Trump. Mulroney was urged urged to go onstage by musician David Foster who played the piano for the former prime minister. The offering is seen in out of focus video posted to YouTube. It is said to have inspired favorable comments from the crowd about Canada and the current PM Justin Trudeau. The Saturday evening event recalled a much more rehearsed Mulroney vocalizing of Irish Eyes with then President Reagan in the 80s. On that occasion the warbling diplomacy was seen as evidence of the enduring (and favorable) relationship enjoyed by Canada with the US.

On the second occasion he also said the woman  was “F—— Hot.”  As well, the woman complained that Devine smelled of alcohol on both occasions. Waterloo Record

Special Saturday kicks off promising Family Day weekend

It was a stunning Saturday in February to kick off the Family Day weekend in South Bayview. Shoppers strolled the street and old friends embraced in — yes — 12 degree weather. The rest of the weekend also looks good as does the week ahead. Saturday’s sun and record-breaking mild temperatures had people — a few — wearing shorts. The high reached 12 C in Toronto, surpassing the old record of 10.8 in 2011. A high of 10 C is forecast for Sunday, a couple of degrees below the record of 12.5 C set in 1994. Check the full weather forecast here.
