Cash for newspapers from Netflix tax nixed by Mr. Trudeau

The federal government in no less a presence than the prime minister himself has rejected a scheme to tax Netflix service in Canada with the money to be given to struggling newspapers. In recent times, many companies still publishing on paper have called for such a subsidy in the name of the protection of democracy. A noble cause if there is a connection. In the case of the Toronto Star, they have also called for the CBC to be forbidden advertising presumably to make the market easier for papers.
