Nordstrom to sell advice in store to sell fashions online

According to the Washington Post, Nordstrom, Inc. has a new game-plan to boost sales: Don’t sell high-end luxury fashion items. Instead of selling clothes, shoes, accessories and other fashion products, Nordstrom is testing a concept where it will offer stylists, manicurists, a tailor and wine. Advice on what to wear will range across all of life’s challenges like dates, job interviews, vacations and so on. The payoff occurs when — and if — the customer likes the advice she/he gets and places an order at the store with Nordstrom.com. According to the Post, the first new store concept, Nordstrom Local, will open in Los Angeles next month and analysts are already thinking that the retailer will be opening many more stores in urban areas over time. Nordstrom has two stores in Toronto —  CF Eaton Centre and Yorkdale.
