Toronto Police are launching Project Blue Dog in Chinatown to address issues ranging from shoplifting and other theft to the education of elderly residents on scams such as the Canada Revenue Agency telemarketing fraud, identity theft and Power of Attorney abuse. As is often the case, the Chinese community is involved in proactive work with the police. In this case, Deputy Chief Peter Yuen and 52 Division Community Response Unit Staff Sergeant Matthew Moyer will collaborate with the Chinatown Business Improvement Area (BIA). News release. A fire has damaged John English Junior Elementary School at 95 Mimico Ave overnight. No injuries were reported in the 5 a.m. roof fire.
MAN FLEES BROKEN STORE WINDOW
A driver crashed into a convenience store at Sherbourne and Dundas Sts. and then fled the scene on foot early Monday. Quite a wind-up to the weekend for that celebrant.
