John Tory has been re-elected Mayor of Toronto. He defeated Jennifer Keesmaat by more than 300,000 votes with almost all polls reporting. In South Bayview, a bitter disappointment for Leaside residents as Jon Burnside was defeated by Jaye Robinson. Their respective vote count shortly before 9 p.m. showed Burnside with 12,142 (42 percent) and Robinson with 15,120 (52 percent). In St. Paul’s, Josh Matlow defeated Joe Mihevc with 19,000 votes (52 percent) to about 15,000 (42 percent). Kristyn Wong Tam won Ward 13 very handily and Mike Layton now has Moore Park and Rosedale residents among his constituents in Ward 11, having defeated all rivals easily. The closest was Joyce Rowlands with barely a fifth of Layton’s total. In Ward 14 (Toronto Danforth) Paula Fletcher defeated Mary Fragedakis by a margin or more than 6,000 votes. CBC
BRADFORD WINS IN BEACH BY LESS THAN 300 VOTES
Newcomer Brad Bradford has won a close race against Matthew Kellway by barely one percent in the popular vote. Totals two hours after polls closed showed Bradford just 288 votes ahead. Mike Colle has defeated Christin Carmichael Greb by more than 4,000 votes in Ward 8. Anthony Perruzza defeated Georgio Mammoliti by more than 3,000 votes in Ward 7 (Humber-Black Creek). Jim Karygianis has defeated Norm Kelly and Denzil Minnan-Wong defeated David Caplan. Gary Crawford defeated Michelle Holland-Berardinetti in a tight race in Scarborough Southwest.
