The new A&W is open in the East York Town Centre. We call this arrival, like that of the new Starbucks just up the street on Overlea Blvd., part of the Costco effect. The new shopping club cannot be bad for business. At lower left, parents and kids will want to meet Tory Woolcott, the Toronto kids science writer, as she launches her new book The Brain at Mabel’s Fables on Saturday at 2 p.m. Mabel’s is at Mt. Pleasant Rd. and Hillsdale Ave. Sounds like fun. Also at the bottom, reminders about the St. Cuthbert’s canned food pickup Saturday and the Leaside Guys Night Out Toy Drive coming up early in December. Please help out.
