10 years of ProAction hockey in Flemingdon marked Sunday

Police and community members will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the ProAction Hockey League at Angela James Arena in Flemingdon Park on Sunday. Officers from 55 Division, who coach and mentor youth, have seen the program grow from 64 to 148 kids, many of whom would never have had the opportunity to play hockey because of the high cost of the ice time, equipment and league costs. ProAction Cops and Kids was founded by in 1991 by businessman John Bitove Sr. It is a non-profit agency that provides funding for programs that connect police officers with young people. Social time at 3 p.m. with the puck drop at 3:30 p.m. at the James Arena at 165 Grenoble Dr. Follow the league at Twitter @TPS55div and @TPSVicentino.
