Rising Humber sends water into streets, homes of Bolton

The Humber River is spilling into the streets and homes of Bolton and Caledon this weekend as Spring temperatures thaw the dozens of cm. of snow dropped on the area since December.  A temporary evacuation shelter has been set up at the Caledon Centre for Recreation and Wellness for those who cannot cope at home. Dozens of residents of Bolton have been forced from their homes. Ice jams have formed dams on the river. Parts of downtown area are submerged. Most of the waterways which run to Lake Ontario are flooding. Caledon OPP have blocked off King Street, the main downtown artery, from Queen Street to the Caledon- King Townline Road and are asking people to avoid the area altogether.
