Wheels on the Danforth
Many will wish it wasn’t so, but the CNE opened Friday. It runs until September 2 and as always it signals that summer is coming to an end. Upper right is the venerable Danforth Music Hall celebrating 100 years this month. It was built as Allen’s Danforth Theatre, opening on August 18, 1919, with a selection of the very finest silent flickers. Centre-right is a hilarious old doodle-covered Nissan Micra spotted at the Overlea Shopping Centre. Below that a reminder of the Wheels On Danforth classic car show on Saturday down by Byng Ave. At lower left is a peek at the furious work going on at Hillsdale Ave. and Bayview Ave. for the new Brown Group residential and commercial development.
