650 Parliament fire cause an electrical “catastrophic failure”

The official cause of the fire at 650 Parliament St. some 13 months ago has finally been released. It seems to carry no particular surprises, describing the nature of the power loss and fire as “catastrophic failure” of the building’s electrical system following an explosion in the electrical room. Earlier conclusions said similar things. There is no published mention of the alleged decades of neglect of the electrical system. Repairs continue with more than $20-million of an estimated $25- $30-million having been spent. Lawyers for the residents, who remain out of their homes, have filed a class-action lawsuit against building management, Wellesley-Parliament Square (WPSQ), to get compensation for expenses and other losses.
