“Girls are not real” complaint against Ottawa school board

A complaint to the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal the Ottawa school board will proceed to a formal hearing. It comes from the parents of a six-year-old girl who was told by her teacher during class that “girls are not real.” That was in 2018. Her parents maintain the child was deeply upset by the assertion.

Shock as Metrolinx says cost outweighs benefits

A story in the Globe and Mail says the cost of major transit projects will far exceed their benefits. The report attributes the conclusion to Metrolinx documents. In particular, an analysis released Friday of the Scarborough subway extension concluded it would bring $2.8-billion in benefits over a 60-year period, and cost about $5.5-billion to build. No winning 649 ticket

No winning ticket was sold for the $7 million jackpot in Saturday night’s Lotto 649 draw. However, the guaranteed $1 million prize went to a ticket holder in Ontario. The jackpot for the next Lotto 649 draw on Mar. 4 will be approximately $9 million.
