Opioid death toll spike as addicts, other users die in Toronto

A potent opioid more lethal than fentanyl has made its appearance on City streets as Toronto witnessed five apparent overdose deaths on Wednesday alone. There were 13 such deaths between May 2 and May 6. The drug is called etonitazene and is said to have been first synthesized 70 years ago  The victims and neighbourhoods of these deaths are not described but the pattern of ongoing fatalities indicates that lethal artificial drugs continue to dominate the habits of addicts and other careless users.
