Toronto has announced that Hackman Capital Partners (HCP) and its affiliate, the MBS Group (MBS) will develop and operate the Basin Media Hub, a $250 million state-of-the-art film, television and media hub to be built on an 8.9-acre waterfront development parcel in Toronto’s Port Lands. The lots are located at 29, 35, 41 Basin St. The Port Lands lie more or less at the bottom of the Don Valley Parkway. For most people, it’s a dreary and remote place. Four images depicting this glamorous new Hollywood North community are seen on the City’s news release. It calls the development the most significant contribution to Toronto’s film and television production ecosystem in more than two decades.
