South Africa has seen a noticeable drop in new C-19 cases in recent days and medical experts say it may signal that the country’s dramatic Omicron-driven surge has passed its peak. Daily virus case counts are unreliable but the drop in cases hints that Omicron infections may recede quickly after a ferocious spike. In Ontario, some 4,383 new cases (of all variants) are reported.
