Leaside among many Midtown libraries to close temporarily

The Toronto Public Library will temporarily close 44 branches including the Leaside Branch on McRae Drive because of staff shortages.  The closures take place Monday and are attributed to C-19 illnesses and absences because of the pandemic. The closures seem massive. Just 52 of the TPL’s 96 locations will remain open.  These closures will, it is said, enable TPL branches serving Neighbourhood Improvement Areas to continue to offer consistent and equitable library services across the City. There’s no indication of how long the closures will last. The shutdown seems to hit Midtown hard with locations in Forest Hill, East York, Downtown, Davenport and Leslieville locked up. List
