No end in sight for Eglinton Crosstown construction woes

Leaside Station (Bayview & Eglinton), October 1, 2022

The CBC is reporting that there’s no credible plan in place to complete the Eglinton Crosstown LRT. Budgeting, quality of work, missed targets and disputes cloud the project that has plagued Eglinton for what feels like forever. Internal documents obtained by the CBC outline a pretty sad situation. Bayview Biz: New restaurants to wine & dine now open!

The much anticipated Mirage Mediterranean Restaurant at 1620 Bayview Avenue is open for business. Their official grand opening should take place in the coming days, stay tuned for updates. We should mention that The Bulldog tried their lentil soup for lunch today with some freshly baked barbari bread straight from their oven. It was fabulous! Looking forward to going back for dinner.

We just experienced the Mirage on Bayview. It was outstanding. Love the new decor and the authentic menu had us feeling we were in Lebanon. Such a wonderful treasure in the ‘hood! It is a Persian delight!John O., Bulldog Reader, Dec. 7th, 2022

Down the road at 1560a Bayview Avenue, The Daughter Natural Wine Bar & Bottle Shop held their grand opening on November 23rd. A unique establishment on Bayview that would be ideal for catching up with friends for a light dinner while enjoying some adult beverages. Cheers!

Drop in to The Daughter for beautiful snacks and small plates available all day. Recommended pairing, natural wine and great company of course 🍷✨!The Daughter Wine Bar, @thedaughter_toronto on Instagram

Santa Claus is coming to town…

There will be a photo booth where you can take home a free festive snapshot, enjoy a free warm beverage from select retailers, and pick up a free Bayview-Leaside BIA reusable insulated shopping bag (while supplies last).

Saturday, Dec 3rd & Saturday, Dec 10th between 11:00am – 4:00pm

See you there!

Keep your eyes on the road everyone!

It’s been a busy day in the neighbourhood for emergency services. Toronto Fire Services have tended to 4 different traffic collisions in our area this afternoon.

One of the fender benders included the spiked wheels of a fuel truck puncturing the side of a u-turning Mercedes at Bayview & Millwood. All the people involved appeared to be okay from what we could see, but the Benz looked like Jaws took a bite out of it.

This proposal by developer Menkes calls for a Zoning By-law Amendment Application for three residential towers, at 45, 40 and 35 storeys, including two 6-storey base buildings with a total residential gross floor area of 82,447.9 square metres, with a 426.4 square metre park. A total of 1162 residential dwelling units are proposed, inclusive of 121 rental replacement units. There are 192 residential parking spaces proposed in a 3-level underground garage. (Important!
