Communal toilets, change rooms resented by many women

There’s a long and lively Facebook discussion thread which continues Sunday about communal washrooms and change rooms. They have private rooms for removing a swimming suit and getting dressed. But these are accessed from an all sexes space where, as many women complain, men can walk in and see a woman in her swimwear. Several comments say such communal change rooms will be installed at the new Davisville Community Hub next door to Davisville Public School.

Mr and Mrs Newlywed
Picked up their clubs
At the Marshall’s shed
Giddy on their honeymoon
…12 holes later death would loom
The Marshall warned a storm was near
But busy kissing, they did not hear
On the 13th green she grabbed the pin
As the skies turn dark
And the storm rolled in
The lightning forked and with a CRACK!
Both were killed on their favourite track
But if by chance you play at dawn
You’ll hear them walking on the lawn
They may be ghosts but as golfer do
Just step aside and they’ll play through

Was Marc Garneau dropped because he’s a man?

An indignant voter in Marc Garneau’s riding of Notre-Dame-de-Grace-Westmount says the only apparent reason for dropping Marc Garneau from the cabinet is because he’s a man. Oh well, sure, he ran against Mr. Trudeau for the Liberal leadership in 2012 too.

Vlogger visits every country in the world (but one)

Drew Binsky is said to have visited every country in the world except one. Somehow, we find that less amazing than his vlog audience of eight million fans. Seasoned travellers will tell you however that it isn’t so much the number of countries one visits as the time spent there.

Wednesday: Razor thin edge for DST status quo in Alta vote

Albertans have voted by the narrowest possible margin (50.1 percent to 49.9 percent) to retain the daylight saving time annual clock change. There’s growing unrest nonetheless to get rid of the annual dislocation of sleep and work that extends to life and death things like road safety. The Legislature has voted to eliminate the change if only Quebec and New York State will do the same. Should Ontario wait, or be a leader?

Stunning details have emerged from a court petition filed by Edward Rogers at the BC Supreme Court. It reveals that the Rogers Communications Inc. board voted to accept CEO Joe Natale’s retirement but the decision was reversed in another board meeting just a few days later when Edward wasn’t there. That disclosure has prompted Edward’s mother, Loretta Rogers, 82, to declare that the reason for the reversal was because she felt her son supplied her with inaccurate information about Natale’s performance as CEO.
