A Lotto Max ticket holder in British Columbia is waking up $70 million richer. One winning ticket was sold in Tuesday’s Lotto Max draw, which also saw three of 13 Maxmillions prizes claimed. Three tickets will share $1 million, while two single ticket holders will each claim $1 million. Two of the winning tickets were sold in Quebec, two in Ontario and one in the Prairies

A woman resident has died in a fire at the Leaside Gate condominium at 955 Millwood Rd between Randolph Rd. and Southvale Drive. The two-alarm fire was reported shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday. The fire was extinguished quickly and so far as is known there are no other injuries. Facebook comments.

On the left, Northern Ontario doctor Patrick Phillips is in trouble with the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons for anti-vaccine preaching and other discredited advice. The College has called the small-town MD “incompetent”. He practices in the tiny community of Englehart, Ontario, popular 1,500. At centre, the shameless R. Kelly, singer-songwriter and sex offender. He’s been found guilty of some nasty crimes. At right is Ajax senior Clayton Willett, the victim of a “lottery scam.” Many will see the warning signs but Mr. Willett is out $18,000.

Officials say 33 of 39 miners have now been rescued from the precious metals Totten mine near Sudbury. The remaining miners are expected to be brought out Tuesday. No one was injured. The miners were stuck after a scoop bucket being transported underground on Sunday detached and became hung up in the shaft, rendering normal conveyance for transporting employees unavailable. This required the miners to make a tiring 1,500 foot climb up ladders to safety. Totten contains copper, nickel and precious metals.

Leaside residents are invited to a meet and greet gathering by the Leaside Heritage Preservation Society (LHPS) on Wednesday evening at the Leaside Pub patio from 6 to 8 p.m. You’ll have an opportunity to learn a bit more about the organization, meet the board members and chat with members. There will be complimentary appetizers as well as a cash bar.

The sombre wreckage of a 2014 Chrysler and tractor-trailer is seen at the corner of Steeles Ave and Bramalea Rd early Saturday. Witnesses say the Chrysler hurtled through a red light at very high speed. The occupants were young men aged 19 to 21. Two are dead and one is fighting for his life in hospital. The trucker had minor injuries.
