Wayne Gretsky quits Oilers to become Turner commentator

Wayne Gretzky has resigned from his post as vice-chairman of the Edmonton Oilers after five years, he announced Tuesday via Twitter, and will join TNT as an analyst, according to Andrew Marchand of The New York Post. “The Oilers, their fans, and the city of Edmonton have meant the world to me and my family for over four decades – and that will never end,” Gretzky wrote in a statement. “Given the pandemic and other life changes, I realize I will not be able to dedicate the time nor effort needed to support this world-class organization.”

LRT cars moved to end end of Eglinton line to begin testing

6 a.m. power outage starts Tuesday, lights back at 8.40 a.m.

Thousands of Toronto homes were without power from shortly after 6 a.m. until after 8.30 a.m. Tuesday because of an unexplained power outage in Midtown. The boundaries as given by Toronto Hydro were: Balliol south to Summerhill and Yonge east to Bayview.

Two thrown from bike on QEW as rear tire comes off rim

Two people were thrown from a motorcycle on the Niagara stretch of the QEW near Sodom Rd Monday. They suffered unknown injuries and are being treated in hospital. OPP say the unusual accident occurred when the tire of the bike’s rear wheel became detached from the rim.

TGH woman locks herself in bicycle cage to escape pervert

A woman employee at Toronto General Hospital left an overnight shift last Friday and found herself in a very unpleasant confrontation with an unkempt man who was exposing himself. The woman locked herself in the bicycle cage and called the police. When cops arrived at the Elizabeth Street garage the man was gone but pictures show this guy with a beard, an apparent can of beer and shoes with the laces hanging loose. Lovely.
